Thiruporur Marathon 2026
Whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned runner — there's a race for everyone at Thiruporur Marathon 2026.

Every day, more than 500,000 people in India are waiting for an organ transplant. Only a fraction will receive the help they need in time. One pledged donor can save up to 8 lives and transform the lives of over 75 people through tissue donation.
The Thiruporur Marathon is dedicated to bridging this gap — through education, awareness, and community action. When you run with us, you amplify this vital message.

Anyone above the age of 18 can register as an organ donor. Even if you are below 18, you can still pledge with parental consent. There is no upper age limit — medical suitability is assessed at the time of donation.
A single organ donor can save up to 8 lives by donating the heart, two lungs, liver, two kidneys, pancreas, and intestines. Additionally, tissue donation (corneas, skin, bones, tendons) can help over 75 people live better lives.
Most major religions, including Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Sikhism, and Buddhism, support or permit organ donation as an act of compassion and selfless giving. We encourage you to speak with your religious leader if you have specific concerns.
Absolutely not. The medical team treating you is completely separate from any transplant team. Doctors always work with full effort to save your life first. Organ donation is only considered after all life-saving measures have been exhausted.
Yes! Living organ donation is possible. You can donate one kidney, a portion of your liver, a lung lobe, part of the pancreas, or part of the intestine while alive. Living donors are carefully evaluated to ensure their own health is not compromised.
You can register on the National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO) website at notto.mohfw.gov.in, or through your state's organ transplant registry. You'll receive a donor card — inform your family about your decision as their consent is also required.
No. Organ retrieval is performed with the utmost respect and care, similar to any surgical procedure. The body is treated with dignity and can be viewed at a funeral. Open-casket funerals are still possible after donation.
Yes. Organ donation is always a voluntary decision. You can withdraw your pledge at any time by updating your registration with the relevant organ donation registry and informing your family of your change in decision.
