1. Introduction

This document is an electronic record in terms of the Information Technology Act, 2000 and rules thereunder as applicable. It is published in accordance with Rule 3(1) of the Information Technology (Intermediaries Guidelines) Rules, 2011 and pertains to access or usage of the website thiruporurmarathon.com ("Website") and the Thiruporur Marathon 2026 event ("Event").

The Platform is operated by the Thiruporur Marathon Organising Committee, Chennai, Tamil Nadu ("Organisers", "we", "us", "our"). By using this Website or registering for the Event, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.

2. Acceptance of Terms

ACCESSING, BROWSING OR OTHERWISE USING THE PLATFORM OR REGISTERING FOR THE EVENT INDICATES YOUR AGREEMENT TO ALL TERMS AND CONDITIONS UNDER THESE TERMS OF USE. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE PROCEEDING.

These Terms may be modified at any time without prior notice. It is your responsibility to review them periodically. Continued participation in the Event after modifications constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

3. Registration & Eligibility

  1. Participants must be at least 16 years of age on race day to register for the 5K and 10K events. Participants for the 21K Half Marathon must be at least 18 years of age.
  2. Participants under 18 years must have a signed parental/guardian consent form submitted before the event.
  3. All registrations are subject to availability. The organisers reserve the right to close registrations at any time once capacity is reached.
  4. You agree to provide true, accurate, and complete information during registration. False information may result in disqualification.
  5. Registration is non-transferable. You may not sell or transfer your race bib to another participant.

4. Registration Fees & Refund Policy

  1. Registration fees are: 5K Fun Run — ₹600; 10K Competitive Run — ₹900; 21K Half Marathon — ₹1200.
  2. All registration fees are non-refundable once payment has been processed, except in cases where the event is cancelled by the organisers due to circumstances beyond their control (force majeure).
  3. If the event is cancelled, participants will be offered a credit for the next edition or a partial refund at the organisers' discretion.
  4. Category changes (e.g., from 10K to 21K) may be accommodated subject to availability and any applicable fee difference, up to 14 days before the event.

5. Medical & Fitness Declaration

  1. By registering, you declare that you are in good health and physically fit to participate in a running event of the distance chosen.
  2. You confirm you have no medical conditions that would prevent you from safely participating. If you have any doubts, you should consult your doctor before registering.
  3. The organisers strongly recommend that participants undergo a medical check-up before the event.
  4. The organisers, their agents, sponsors, and volunteers shall not be held liable for any injury, illness, or death arising out of participation in the Event.

6. Race Rules & Conduct

  1. Participants must wear their official race bib visibly on the front of their shirt throughout the race.
  2. Participants must follow the designated route. Cutting the course or deviating from the route will result in disqualification.
  3. Headphones are permitted but participants must remain aware of their surroundings at all times.
  4. Participants must not obstruct or interfere with other runners or volunteers.
  5. Any form of doping or performance-enhancing substance is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate disqualification and reporting to relevant authorities.
  6. Cycling, skating, or using any motorised device to cover the race distance is not permitted.
  7. Participants must comply with the instructions of race marshals, medical personnel, and police at all times.

7. T-Shirt & Race Kit

  1. Each registered participant will receive an official Thiruporur Marathon T-shirt. Sizes available are XS, S, M, L, XL, and XXL.
  2. T-shirt size requests will be honoured subject to availability. The organisers reserve the right to substitute sizes if the requested size is unavailable.
  3. Race kits (T-shirt, bib, timing chip where applicable) must be collected on the designated date and time communicated by email.
  4. Kits not collected before the deadline may not be available on race day.

8. Photography & Media

By participating in the Event, you grant the Thiruporur Marathon Organising Committee a perpetual, royalty-free licence to use photographs, videos, and other recordings of your likeness taken at the Event for promotional, marketing, and educational purposes, including on social media, the website, and printed materials.

9. Liability Waiver

Participation in the Thiruporur Marathon is at your own risk. The organisers, their directors, employees, volunteers, sponsors, and agents shall not be liable for any personal injury, loss, damage, death, property damage, or any other claim arising out of or in connection with participation in the Event, except to the extent caused by the organisers' gross negligence or wilful misconduct.

10. Intellectual Property

All content on this website — including but not limited to text, images, graphics, logos, and event branding — is the property of the Thiruporur Marathon Organising Committee and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Unauthorised use is strictly prohibited.

11. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
